Match Preview: Posh vs Exeter City #UltimateQuaranteam

Posh are back in action tonight, well sort of, as commanding centre back Rhys Bennett takes on e-prem pro Sculpta, representing Exeter City, in the first round of the #UltimateQuaranteam cup. Some fans will question the decision to allow pro players to take part in such a tournament, and with Sculpta starting a heavy 1/5 favorite with the bookies, Bennett faces an uphill challenge to prolong Posh’s stay in the cup. His task is not made any easier by the fact that all players in the tournament have been set to an 85 rating, meaning that Bennett will not benefit from having a superior squad of players to call upon.

However, Bennett comes into the tournament in fine form, having recently gone on a 28 win, 2 loss run on Ultimate Team earning him the holy grail of an Elite 1 rating. When asked earlier today whether this run gave him confidence ahead of the upcoming clash Bennett replied:

“The honest answer is no.

“I play Ultimate Team 99% of the time and generally haven’t spent any time on the game mode I will play on tonight.

“I’m also coming up against a FIFA pro who is levels above me at the game so I’m just hoping I don’t get embarrassed.”

While Bennett’s honesty is refreshing he can take some confidence from the fact that a fan of Posh’s arch rivals MK Dons beat a professional fifa player earlier in the competition, proving that just like in the cup’s real life counterpart, upsets can happen in the virtual game world.

Should the game finish in a draw, there will be no extra time or penalties with drawn matches being replayed until there is a winner.

Whatever the result, fans of FIFA and Posh will be interested to see a player of their club in action, and many will like me be pleased that the club have decided to field a player rather than delving into the pro FIFA ranks.

For those who want to watch tonight and lend Bennett their support the match will be live streamed on Twitch from 9pm.

Best of luck Rhys, whatever happens you will do us proud tonight!
